The story of Bizovacke toplice and the medicinal thermomineral springs that we present here starts in 1967. In that time, working on the test oil-wells, the workmen of the "INA Naftaplin" found in the Bizovac surroundings the first geothermal well. The legend of the discovery of the once lost Panonian Sea was born immediately. The water was found at the depth of 1830 metres and the temperature on the spring reached 96 degrees Celsius. It was turbid, salt and extremely rich in minerals. Soon it was given a name as well – Bizovac.
Immediately after the public found out about the first thermal spring, the water was let into the village canals. In that way many curious people could try out its warmth and taste on the spot, and stories of its healing properties started to spread.
Not long after the first discovery a new geothermal spring was found at the depth of 1650 metres. This water was somewhat clearer, less salt, but contained almost the same mineral structure. It was not so hot on the spring, 85 degrees Celsius. It was named Slavonka.
In the following seven years the quality and the steadiness of geothermal springs were tested, and the plans for an organized reception of a larger number of visitors-bathers were made. So, in 1974 the first open-air swimming-pool was built as well as an accommodation building right next to it. This will later develop into the old Hotel Bizovacke toplice, with a restaurant, two annexes and the system of the outdoor and indoor swimming-pool, as well as a possibility of the individual bathing in the bathtubs. The swimming- pools were filled up only by water from geothermal springs.
Due to an increased interest of the visitors, as well as to the responsibility of the host for now already larger number of bathers, who were enjoying bathing in the hot water rich in minerals, a service of medical care was also organized, and soon after that the organized physiotherapy services were offered.
Ten years later we started planning a new, even bigger hotel complex. The new hotel Termia was opened in 1990 with possibilities for organizing a wide range of new recreational programs. Within the new hotel complex we established a new health institution – Polyclinic for medical rehabilitation. It is a modern diagnostic-therapeutic centre with different kinds of rehabilitation therapies being performed under the supervision of specialist and professional medical-therapeutic team.
Finally, in 1997 an up-to-date bathing complex was opened within the hotel Termia – Town of water Aquapolis, with the very modern system of chemical, bacteriological and technical cleansing of water. There are 9 swimming-pools in Aquapolis, which comes to 1500 square metres of water surface.
